What Customers Say About Long Road Out of Eden:

You get the feeling that they wanted to cram all they could into this package because they wouldn't be doing another one, and the overall feel suffers a bit because of it. While this collection of new songs by The Eagles is good, I have to agree with Don Henley that it should have been compressed and made into a single CD instead of two. At least they finally did get around to releasing new music and simply weren't continuing to tour as an oldies act. All in all, being a huge Eagles fan, I'm not complaining. The two-CD set is good; a single-CD would have made it great. But that's what happens when you wait nearly thirty years between albums.

And it all sounds even BETTER live.awesome.I can't wait for the follow up This album is as good, or better, than anything they have released before.incredible allusions, provocotive and poignant, witty, sad and joyous.this album has it all plus soaring evocotive instrumentation. The Eagles are the greatest band ever for my money. Lyrics, music.all superb.

And to those who have a problem with that, I believe Mr. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Again, this IS The Eagles.

It's new, it's old, it's fresh, it's familiar. Timothy Schmitt's voice is still as sweet as when he sang, "I Can't Tell You Why" and of course, Joe Walsh is the ever-brilliant comic relief with just the right dose of irony to balance it all out.To all those who dismiss "Long Road Out Of Eden" as anything less than great, should perhaps stick with their "Greatest Hits" and the "Hotel California" discs. You can't please everyone but if you look at their track record on this release, you'll see that the vast majority really like "Long Road Out Of Eden".

The Eagles have evolved, matured and mellowed with age but their unmistakable sound is still very much their own. Henley said it it best: Get Over It. It's all here: Don Henley's social commentaries on politics, pop culture and the nuclear family.

Glenn Frey keeps the music grounded in it's country roots.

So what we get is about 90 minutes of beautifully recorded new music ranging from rock & pop to folk & traditional. Songs like the title track are bold and courageous with its 10-minute-plus message of hard times a-coming, with lines like 'But all the knowledge in the world is of no use to fools, and it's a long road out of Eden'. This is not to be compared to the Eagles we all know from the seventies, it feels more like a worthy new beginning for a band that still has something to say. Long Road Out Of Eden is far from being the Eagles' best album but it is a strong effort nonetheless. Self-produced by the band, this is a double album of beautiful harmonies and great songwriting as they manage to create a niche where to sound convincing and not too commercial.

Only complaints - Don Felder's guitar is missed and Joe Walsh could have added more of his raunchier side. Great harmonies. The style harkens back to 1980 or even 1975, with themes updated for older rockers. Two discs help make up for lost time.
